July is here, and with it comes an exciting global movement: Plastic Free July! This month-long challenge encourages individuals and communities to reduce their plastic consumption and waste. By making small, simple changes in our daily lives, we can significantly impact the environment. At Coast to Coast Sustainables, we are passionate about sustainability and are here to support your journey toward a plastic-free lifestyle with our eco-friendly products.

Why Plastic Free July?

Plastic pollution is a significant environmental issue, with millions of tons of plastic waste ending up in our oceans and landfills each year. Plastic Free July aims to raise awareness and inspire people to reduce their plastic use. By participating, you can:

- Reduce plastic waste
- Protect marine life
- Contribute to a cleaner, healthier planet
- Encourage sustainable living
- Save money

Simple Tips for Reducing Plastic Use

1. Bring Your Own Bags.
One of the easiest ways to cut down on plastic use is to bring reusable bags when you shop. Say goodbye to single-use plastic bags and opt for durable, eco-friendly options.

2. Use Reusable Water Bottles and Coffee Cups.
Invest in a good quality reusable water bottle and coffee cup. Fill water or your favorite beverage at home to take with you throughout the day and if you love to get coffee on the go, simply bring a canteen and have them fill it there. Not only will you reduce plastic waste, but you'll also save money in the long run.

3. Choose Plastic-Free Packaging.
Whenever possible, buy products with minimal or plastic-free packaging. Look for items in glass, metal, or paper packaging instead. When possibly, shop locally at farmer's markets when possible and bring your own bags for produce. Supporting farmers in your area means less packaging and transport in addition to putting money back into your local economy.

4. Cut out sodas, juices and other plastic bottled beverages.
This can make a huge impact. If you have a hard time giving up soda look for glass bottled options or invest in a Soda Stream so you can make it right at home. Healthier for you and the planet!

5. Opt for Reusable Snack Bags.
Instead of using plastic snack bags, switch to reusable ones. Our eco-friendly, food-safe, OEKO-TEX certified REusable Snack Bags and Sandwich Wraps are perfect for carrying snacks, sandwiches, and other small items. They're easy to clean and made to last, reducing the need for single-use plastic bags. Best of all, not only do they come in a variety of fun designs, they are washer and drier safe!

6. Replace Cling Film with Bowl Covers
Cling film, or saran wrap, is a common household item that often ends up in the trash. Our REusable Bowl Covers are a fantastic alternative, helping you save the planet and your pockets. Similar to the snack bags, the lining is food-safe, OEKO-TEX certified and washer and drier friendly. They come in several sizes and fit snugly over bowls and dishes, keeping food fresh without the plastic waste.

7. Bring Your Own Cutlery
Avoid single-use plastic cutlery by carrying your own reusable set. It's convenient, sustainable, and stylish!

8. Shop at Bulk Stores
Buying in bulk reduces the need for plastic packaging. Bring your own containers to fill with grains, nuts, and other bulk items. You can use glass jars, reuse washed food containers like spice jars, hummus or salsa containers, and so on. It is surprising how many stores offer bulk buying now, so make sure to call around and ask.

9. Choose Eco-Friendly Products
Whenever possible, choose products that are designed to be reused or are made from sustainable materials. Look for those specific terms, OEKO-TEX (more about that here!), natural fibers, upcycled, bamboo, and more.
